Block me... Better late than never

I've never tried the color blocking trend. No need to say it!! I know I'm late for this. The only time I color blocked, was with my FANTABULOUS Old Navy striped dress, and that was sort of cheating. All the work was done for me, and I wasn't even trying! Also, I've never tried colored jeans.

While reading one of my favorite blogs, Rocquelle of Consider Me Lovely did a post rocking her colored jeans and asked her readers, "Are you into colored denim?" I've seen them all around, and I thought they looked nice one everyone else. I must admit that I was a little intimidated by colored denim due to my more robust bottom half. I basically thought I would have to sit this trend out. =(

This is one of the reasons why I love blogging! I'm able to grab style inspiration from others. Real women, with real style.  Because of Rocquelle's question, I wanted to try the colored denim for myself. And here you have it... Both things that I have never tried going on in this post, AND I like it!!

 Until next time...

Tell it all Tuesdays (Tiana edition)...

Hey peeps!! I haven't done a post in a while, so I'm a little rusty. My daughters 13th birthday was Sunday. I'm so proud of that girl, that I don't know what to do with myself. I look at her getting older and growing into a wonderful young lady everyday (I won't even speak on the fact that she has about a half inch to go before she's taller than me). Thank you guys for allowing me to share my life, style and family with you. Anyhoo... this Tell it all Tuesday will be dedicated to my "Chic-a-dee".... I hope she's cool with me sharing my nickname for her with everyone. =D

Hubby and I had Tiana at the tender ages of 19 & 20 (I was 19, he 20). We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into.

She loves to draw, design clothes, knit, ice skate and hang at the mall with her friends (don't worry, she'll be getting a job ASAP for that mall part =D).

Tiana is an awesome writer. She's won statewide awards for her writing, and has even been published!!

She loves her natural hair, and has decided to stay that way for now. Cornrows, Afro's and twist-outs are what she loves. I think the level of confidence that my baby girl has is unprecedented. I know how hard it can be to maintain your confidence at such a young age. She never ceases to amaze me.

While she doesn't consider herself to be a fashionista... she has great "Tiana Style". I tell her all the time when she puts an outfit together, "Wow, you're looking very Tiana today!" Her response, "Thank you!!".

And to top it all off, she's the best big sister that a little brother could have. I could say so much more, but I don't want to make this post the longest ever. lol! Can you tell that I'm a proud momma?

Until next time...

One skirt, two days, two ways...

Yea, I did it! I wore the same skirt twice within a few days. I think that I wanted to wear my new shoes so bad with this pencil skirt that I couldn't resist. lol! Oh well. I know I can't be the only one who does it. And if I am, just let me think that there are others because it makes me feel better.

Anyhoo... the shoes!! Love these babies. I was having a Twitter convo with a few fabulous blogger ladies (SassyWoman , CurveeBeauty , CheapChicCURVY , Embracing Me) and my arm was basically twisted to go to shoe site CallitSrping.com. Well, maybe not twisted per se, but it was implied. LOL!

I saw these babies and I HAD to purchase them. At the very low price of under $15 (no sales tax in MN), it would have been a shame not to! Before ordering online, I did a little research, and there just so happens to be an actual store in the Mall of America here in good old Minnesota. I went, and they didn't have my size. Boooooo! But they did order them for me with free shipping. YAAAAAAAY!! I didn't hesitate! They are so comfy and I love the look. Trust and believe that I will be going back to get more. Until next time...

Sorry for the blurry pic, but I love the shoes! What can I say...

Weekend Girl...

Hope everyones weekend has been going great! I don't have to work tomorrow, but shout out to everyone who does. I love three day weekends! I've literally been in my pj's for the majority of the weekend. I only left the house for a few hours Saturday evening. I decided to dress my brown pencil skirt down by throwing on a tee and my moccasins. I really can't express enough how much I love these shoes! They are my babies. So comfy, and so stylish. They add a little something to every outfit that I wear them with. I see people stare at them all the time. It's so funny to watch peoples reactions when they look at me, then look down at my shoes. Until next time...

Wild hair, don't care

Happy Hump Day!! I hope everyones week is going well. I'm sooooo looking forward to the long MLK weekend. I titled this post "Wild hair, don't care" because my hair is crazy right now. I've been doing a rollerset challenge and I'm finding that as my curls drop and get more wild, I love it. On this day, I swooped it to the side 80's style, pinned it, and kept it moving. Oh how I miss this past Monday when it was an unseasonal 50 degrees outside.

My outfit wasn't anything special, other than the fact that I love my shoes. Normally, I wouldn't have put them together with the striped shirt, but my little attempt to go outside of my own box went well. It's a small step, but just enough for me =D Until next time...

My Q & A...

1. If you had to choose a world without fashion or a world without music, which would you choose ?
I would choose the world without fashion. Music gives life. It brings people together in ways that one could only imagine. It heals. It brings happiness and so many other emotions.

2. Have you accomplished any of your life goals?
To be honest, I never really had any concrete goals. Before having children, I was kind of just floating about in this world. My goal now is to raise two wonderful, happy, productive children. Working on this one every day.

3. What's the meaning of LOVE to you?
Love is kind. It's patience. It's caring. It's honest. Love is when you want everything for someone, and will sacrifice a little piece of you to give it to them.

4. If you could go anywhere in the world right now, where would it be?
Jamaica. It's cold here y'all!

5. Who's the biggest inspiration in your life right now?
My children. They inspire me to do everything.

6. What's your favorite thing about blogging?
The outlet that it provides. The support that it lends. The people that I have "met".

7. What's your favorite thing out of anything you own?
It's the ring that my great-grandmother "gave" me. I say "gave", because she told me it was mine, but that I couldn't wear it because she didn't want me to go to school with jewelry on. I was around 11 years old, and I put it on anyway. What happened you ask?? It got stuck on my finger and wouldn't come off!! Yea. I got in trouble for that one. LOL! When I met my hubby, he cut the ring off of my finger. But that ring is my piece of her. I love it with all of my heart.

8. Do you believe in fate?
I sure do. I believe that everything is in place to happen in my life. I'm just living it out.

9. What's your favorite song?
Overjoyed, by Stevie Wonder

10. Jeans or dresses ?
Jeans. Even though it's hard to find a pair that fits great, but once you do, it feels so good.

11. What's your favorite food?
I don't have a favorite food. I do like lots of it though. LOL!

You're next!!

1. Where did you grow up?
2. Have you ever travelled outside of the country?
3. What is style to you?
4. How has your style changed over the past few years?
5. What is your greatest accomplishment?
6. What/who makes you smile?
7. Do you have a piece of clothing that you refuse to give up or throw away?
8. Who is your greatest influence?
9. What size shoe do you wear?
10. Who's the most famous person you've ever met?
11. What's your favorite meal to prepare?

Speechless...

Happy Friday Eve!!

I am wore out from this work week y'all. It's crazy trying to cram five days of work into four. I don't have much to say other than I think I look extra curvy in this top right here!! LOL!! The band across the bottom is nice and curve hugging. Not that I'm trying to be slim or anything, but it creates a nice silhouette.  My favorite part of the top is the bat wings. This is another top that was given to me by my gurl Angelique, who is still keeping her weightloss going and looking great all the way. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... her loss is my gain! I was only able to take a few pics outside, because that wind was all over me like white on rice, on a paper plate, in a snow storm(any "Major Pain" movie fans?... **clears throat**yea, me neither)! Until next time...

I didn't get any pics of my shoes, but they are from Steve Madden. They are the cutest snakeskin, peeptoe, platform pumps. You'll be seeing them soon enough, I promise.

Corporate fly...

I don't have a "Tell it all Tuesday" to post today. I think I will take it from every week, down to once a month. Can't give it all away too soon, right? lol! Nah, it's mainly because I don't have that much to say about myself. It's true!! I need more time.

This post will just be what I wore to work. Since my last outfit was bland with jeans and no color, I thought that I would liven things up a taste. I do love how well grey goes with purple. I got the scarf from my sister-in-law. We were in the store, and I was going to buy it myself. She said, "Is that the one you want?". I said yes, and she said, "I'll buy it for you." Wasn't that sweet!? I told her that I was going to have to go shopping with her more often! HA! It's my favorite part of this outfit. Again, it's cold and windy, so my hair is not cooperating. Bless my daughters heart for braving the winter weather for me. =D Until next time...

Fresh Starts...

First let me start by saying, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! I hope that everyone accomplished what they set out to do last year, and that 2012 will be amazing as well. I don't make resolutions, but I do like the idea of new beginnings. Last night hubby and I rang in the new year at home together. It was such a perfect night. Me, him and my glass of Moscato. To tell the truth, I actually dozed off around 11:35pm for a few minutes, but I woke up with plenty of time for the countdown. =D

On to my first OOTD post of the year!

Last night we got our second snow of the winter, which is unusual that it took so long. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying. Today it's cold and windy, so please excuse my curls being all over the place. This outfit is what I like to call, Minnesota Chic. We have to use layers and wear boots here, or we'll all freeze! lol! I still felt cute though.
