Mixing it up...

I hope everyones week is off to a great start. I just wanted to quickly post one of my favorite outfits to date. If you've been rocking with me for a while, you'll remember the bottom half of this dress from a post last year (May, 2012) titled, Curves Ahead. This dress was my very first purchase from ASOS and I love it! I refuse to let this dress go, so I had to "take it in" a bit because I'm in the process of changing said curves. I'm thinking that's a good problem to have. At least in my case it is.

Aside from my striped dress worn here, here, and here this top is my only other peplum item. I love the trend, but have found that not all peplum is created equal. You have the find the right cut for you, and I do adore my two lonely little purchases.

As some of you already know (and saw if you clicked the above links) I'm all about repurposing a wardrobe item. This is no exception. I wore the dress as a skirt this time, and added my new peplum top from Target (which I got on clearance for $8.97).

Last but not least, lets just take a sec to talk about these lace covered Steve Madden heels!! They've been in my closet for over a year, and this was my first time sporting them. Super cute, with a capitol C! I wanted to wear them with this dress/skirt because it gave me the feel of print mixing. Subtle, but still there.

Until next time…

Better Late Than Never...

Hey peeps! I hope you guys are enjoying your weekend!! I know I am. Currently Hubby and I are working on getting our pool & hot tub together so they can be in usable condition by the 4th of July. We're almost there. All we need now is for the weather to cooperate, and it will be all good.

For those of you who rock with me on Instagram & Twitter, you can look forward to a plethora of pics that include me chillin by/in said pool with some sort of cold beverage (which may or may not be of the alcoholic variety). #dontjudgeme ;)

Moving on to the OOTD. As I've said in a previous post, I am a "repeat offender" when it comes to clothes. You might read other blogs or have friends/family who you never see in the same thing twice. I am not one of those people. And since my blog reflects me, you will see some of those things once, twice or three tiiiiiiiiimes (a laaaaadaaaayyyy) here. *sorry about that Lionel Richie reference, it just came to my mind*

I was trying to get my life together to participate in the #StyleMeFriday segment of Eboni's blog, but I didn't make it in time :( It was all about peplum. Since I only have one item in this style (I actually JUST purchased a shirt from Target today), I had to dig deep to figure out ow to re-work it since I've worn it twice on the blog already here and here.

I think this worked. It turned out just as I saw it in my head. Don't you just love it when that happens?

Until next time…

Candied Leather...

Hey peeps!! I hope you guys had a fantastic weekend! I sure did! Even though the weather has yet to break into Spring, I've had a bit of a pep in my step lately.

The home buying process is still weighing heavily on my mind (and wallet), but it's coming along. If all  continues to go well, we will be in our new home come this time next month. Wooooo-hooooo!! Thank you guys for your well wishes.

I haven't been out to party lately, but my girls and I decided to hang last night. It was the perfect time for me to get my mind off of things. I love it when we get together because we completely turn up. #pourupdrank ;) It also gave me the opportunity to get dressed up and take some pics.

I've shown this super cute candy striped dress from ASOS in a previous post here. I just love this dress!! The leather jacket took it to another level for me (shout out to my sis-inlaw for the loaner).

Until next time...

The sun was really shining in my eyes :)

Officially Missing You...

It's been a long time peeps!! I hope everyones week is off to a great start! Mondays are always hard for me, but I'm over that hump now.

My absence from blogging has been a three part issue:

#1. I haven't felt inspired. My outfits haven't been anything that I've wanted to take pics of lately. I feel like I've been wearing the same old things. I really need to clean my closet (again).

#2. I wanted to take a break. I did. Now I'm back. Truth is, I missed blogging & commenting on all of your blogs.

#3. Our camera is broken. Out of service. Down for the count. The pics in this post were taken with our iPad. I was debating on whether I would post them or not because of the horrible quality, but figured… Ah, what the hell.

BONUS reason: It's getting darker earlier these days, and that is putting a damper on my mood, as well as my blog life.

Thanks for hanging around with me! Y'all are the best!

Until next time...

How funny is it that this cop was riding by as my daughter was snapping my pics, and asked me if I wanted to take a picture by his squad car! LOL! He wanted to be in the pic too!! HA!

I also wanted to add a pic of my new found hairstyle. Introducing the Faux Hawk!! I love it! =D

Unexpected...

Good evening peeps!! The middle of the week is here, and as usual, I'm living for the weekend. I am loving the cooler temps. I know I will be complaining about the cold weather soon, so I'm soaking up these high 60's to low 70's while I can. In Minnesota, any time after September is very unpredictable weather wise. On to the OOTD…

I'm having what I would call the best problem ever. My clothes are getting too big. The nice part about this is, my body is changing the way I want it to. The not so nice part is losing the great fit of clothes that I love. Like this dress from ASOS, last worn/seen here

I put it on this morning for work, and it just fell right over my body with no tugging or pulling over my butt required. I then put the cardigan over it in hopes of concealing the fit. When that didn't work as I wanted it to, I added the scarf (the outfit needed color anyway). For me that still wasn't enough, and by this time I was running a little late, so I quickly added leggings. I didn't get to fully see how I looked before I left the house, but once I got to work and glanced at myself, I liked what I saw. The unintentional layering really worked for me =D

Have you thrown together an outfit, and unexpectedly liked it later?

Until next time…

Peppermint Stick...

Hey peeps!! With school starting back, my level of busy has gone from 2 to 10. There's never enough time in the day! I'm so happy that school is back in that I could yell it from the mountain tops! These kids were eating me out of house and home! lol

Without further ado, on to the OOTD. I first saw this dress on fellow blogger Finichia over at Fancy Curves. At the time, my birthday was coming up, and it screamed "Birthday Dress" (and peppermint) to me!! I couldn't help but to head over to ASOS to look into it. Initially, I was hesitant to try the Peplum trend because of my "rumpshaker". Ha! I just knew it would bring all kinds of extra/unnecessary attention to it. After a little bit of deliberation & harassing asking Finichia about sizing (since I know ASOS can run kind of big at times), I bought the dress.

When it arrived, I tried it on immediately, and fell in love with it.

Until next time...

I knew that I didn't want jewelry or shoes to compete with the dress, so I went with nude pumps & these gorgeous leaf earrings that I won in a giveaway over at fellow #BLMGirl Kerissa's spot A Divamoms Journey. Thanks Kerissa!! =D Now that I think about it, I could have added a bracelet. Oh well, maybe next time.

Curves Ahead...

Hope everyone is well. Today is my Friday, so you know I'm feeling great! I plan to get my hair done tomorrow. I've never had kinky twists before, so I'm excited. They'll be pics to come for sure, especially if you follow me on Twitter and/or Facebook.

This post features my first of many purchases from ASOS Curve. The dress is now out of stock, which makes me happy that I ordered when I did. I admit that I was a little hesitant to pull the trigger on purchasing, but as usual, my lovely Twitter #enablers buddies helped me out =D. Thanks ladies!! I've been crazy about stripes this spring/summer, and this dress is right up my alley.  The fabric feels great and the dress is very light weight. I also love the tank style front, with full back coverage.

I probably could have added a little pop of color, but decided not to. I knew that I would wear the dress with my leopard shoes for a little pattern mixing, but what I didn't know is all of the different ways I would think to wear this dress once I put it on. Stay tuned for that because I want to get you guys opinions on a few of the looks that are in my head.

Until next time...
