The Skin I'm In...

I hope you guys enjoyed your weekend. For those of us who work a 9 to 5 from Mon-Fri, tomorrow it's back to the rat race for another fun week of work. Yay *insert sarcasm*!!

Winter has come for us in the "Land of 10,000 Lakes". And even though it didn't stick, we've actually gotten some snow! That may be a surprise to you (depending on where you're from), but it doesn't surprise me at all. Pretty much, any time after September, we expect it. lol!

It was such a nice Fall afternoon, that I decided to step out and take a few pics! I'm giving myself and my daughter a huge pat on the back for this, because it's been a struggle. My bathroom "selfies" have been off the chain on IG because of how my schedule has been. Are you following me on Instagram (@TickaNascha)?? If not, you're really missing out. Well, you're not really missing anything, but you should follow me anyway. Capeesh? Now on to the OOTD.

The dress that I'm wearing was given to me by Sis-Inlaw. She's a rockstar with her weight-loss and gave me a bag of items that she could no longer fit. One of the items I chose was this dress, knowing full well that I could not fit it. It was just too cute to pass up! I tried it on later on that evening, which confirmed what I knew to be true. There's a little bit of stretch in the material, but I couldn't get it past my hips/butt!! At that time, I hadn't really started my health journey, but I knew it was coming. This dress became somewhat of a goal for me.

Fast forward to now… I forgot all about it. I was looking for something to wear to work, complaining as usual about having nothing to wear, and this dress jumped out at me. Literally. It fell off of the hanger. I stared at it, and went back and forth on if I should try it on or not. Even though I know I'd been consistent in the gym (still got some work to do on my eating habits), I didn't see myself as being able to fit into the dress. I didn't want to be disappointed. Long story short, I tried it on, and... WAH-LAH!! It fit!! I haven't stepped on a scale in months, but once I was able to pull this dress down over my hips and it didn't cut off my circulation, I knew a few changes had taken place.

This served as a reminder for me. A reminder to continue to work towards my goals. Just because I don't see change everyday, doesn't mean that it isn't present. I'm going to keep going, and keep loving me along the way. This is why I rock =)

Officially Missing You...

It's been a long time peeps!! I hope everyones week is off to a great start! Mondays are always hard for me, but I'm over that hump now.

My absence from blogging has been a three part issue:

#1. I haven't felt inspired. My outfits haven't been anything that I've wanted to take pics of lately. I feel like I've been wearing the same old things. I really need to clean my closet (again).

#2. I wanted to take a break. I did. Now I'm back. Truth is, I missed blogging & commenting on all of your blogs.

#3. Our camera is broken. Out of service. Down for the count. The pics in this post were taken with our iPad. I was debating on whether I would post them or not because of the horrible quality, but figured… Ah, what the hell.

BONUS reason: It's getting darker earlier these days, and that is putting a damper on my mood, as well as my blog life.

Thanks for hanging around with me! Y'all are the best!

Until next time...

How funny is it that this cop was riding by as my daughter was snapping my pics, and asked me if I wanted to take a picture by his squad car! LOL! He wanted to be in the pic too!! HA!

I also wanted to add a pic of my new found hairstyle. Introducing the Faux Hawk!! I love it! =D

This, is the remix...

Good evening peeps! Hope everyone's week is going well. So far so good at work for me. Today was a little hectic, but nothing that I couldn't handle. My birthday is Thursday of next week and I have most of the week off, so no one is gonna steal my joy! lol!

Anyhoo, on to the OOTD!

As a Blogger who works in a corporate environment & has two children (one of which is a 7 year old boy), I post outfits that I wear for work, play, weekend errands and everything in between.  But for some reason, the outfits that I love posting the most, are date-night looks... and today is no exception.

Until next time...

I added this picture because for some reason, it just seems imperfectly perfect to me. =D

Confession time! This "skirt" is actually a sleeveless top.

I looked at it last weekend, and just felt done with wearing it. Rather than give it away, I turned to something that I've learned while blogging. Remix/Repurpose. With the help of my daughter and her sewing machine, the arm holes were sewn shut. The top of the shirt was taken in a bit to hug my waist... and Wa-lah!! I love how it turned out.

What have you remixed and/or repurposed lately?

Celebrity Inspiration...

I hope your weekend has been going a fabulous as mine. Hubby and I have been kickin it all weekend as if we've had something in particular to celebrate. My weekends are never this packed. Thursday, we went to a Dave Chappelle comedy show. Friday, we went to a club to hear some live music. And Saturday, we went out for a nice dinner at an AWESOME restaurant. Today, I'm on chill mode. I will be taking my Kinky Twists down and relaxing.

Saturday I wore a super cute dress that I picked up on clearance a few months ago from Torrid. When I saw it, I immediately thought of this dress that Alicia Keys wore a while ago. Isn't she FAB?!

The dress was yet another purchase that I made in a size 16 with the expectation of being able to fit it comfortably sooner rather than later. I'm there y'all(personal victory)!! I am completely in love with this dress!! It's super comfortable. I can't say enough about it! The silhouette that it creates brings out my inner sexy! lol!! (please excuse the lap wrinkles, as it wrinkles easily when I sit)

Until next time…

BFSC #7 & 8...

Two posts in one day?!?! Whoa!!

I had to take pics of this outfit to get it into the weekly recap of the Big Fat Summer Challenge over at Jaisfer Lions Club. Installment #7 is the high-waisted aspect of this outfit. Love this high-waisted pencil skirt!! Entry #8 of the challenge is the bodycon fit. I threw on the statement necklace just to break up the matchy-matchy-ness of everything. And yes, there are belt loops in the skirt. I wasn't feeling wearing a belt, so I didn't. BOOM!

Date night doesn't get any better than this!! ;)

Eight down, two to go!! Now I need to find the courage to post my short shorts and my two piece swimsuit.

Until next time…

UPDATE: This look has been entered in Corey's Trendy Tuesday link up over at Its My Taste! Check it out!

LBJ...

Heyyy!! Happy almost Friday! First and foremost, I just want to thank each and every one of you for stopping by my little corner of the internet. Thank you for all of the sweet comments, the suggestions, for chatting it up with me on Twitter & for "liking" my Facebook page! You guys are phenomenal!

The title of the post stands for "Little Black Jumpsuit". It's my 3rd entry for the Big Fat Summer Challenge. This is my Wear Something Sleeveless installment.

I purchased this sexy lil number from Macy's. If you know me, you know it was on the clearance rack. I scooped it up for under $20, retail price $89!! I was a bit skeptical about the back of the jumpsuit. I've been working on my fitness lately, and I'm not quite where I want to be. But hey #YOLO (You Only Live Once, for all of my non-Drake fans), right! You can rest assured that this is one of those outfits that doesn't get worn unless hubby is right next to me ;)

Until next time...

That is not a safety pin on the back of the outfit. It's a silver clasp... I promise! =D

Highs & Lows...

Heeeeeey! Hope everyone is having a nice close to their weekend. Mine has been pretty laid back. Other than running a few errands today, I've been in the house. Just the way I like it. Hubby and I are on the way to see The Avengers, so this is going to be a pretty quick post.

I bought this skirt/dress about a year ago from a random store in a local mall. It was on clearance (of course), so I couldn't resist =D. I love high-low bottom and the material is so comfy. The button-down top is from Lane Bryant, and was purchased forever ago. I recently found it in my closet while getting some things together for the Goodwill.

Well, time to get ready for the week!

Until next time...

First time for everything...

Happy Thursday!!! It is indeed a happy Thursday for me. I'm off work today and Friday. Four day weekends ROCK!! Because I'm off, I decided to get a few outfits together for the old blog here. As I was decided what to put together, I noticed that the hubby's camera has a screw input on the bottom. I then remembered that hubby has a tripod from his college years. DING! I rambled through the closet and there it was... the tripod. It was a perfect fit, and that's all she wrote. I was so anxious to get outside and snap a few shots.

Enter the weirdness of taking your own pics. My excitement quickly fizzled as people started to walk/drive by and stare. I didn't have any direction (which usually comes from my daughter), so I was left to my own devices. Taking a pic, then running to the camera to see if everything worked out is crazy to say the least. I can say that it got better as a figured out where to stand, how to move, and how to make sure I stayed within the frame. It will take some getting used to, but I think it's here to stay for me.

Do you have any tips that I can use for tripod picture taking?? Please share!

On to the OOTD... There are two things that I want to talk about in this outfit. The necklace, and the shoes!

I won the necklace in a giveaway on Ashley's blog, A Sassy Woman. I was so excited because I think it's a really cute. It's called "Jessica", from Thierry Accessories. The colors are what caught my eye. Very vibrant and fun!!

The shoes, I found on Urbanog.com. They are super cute, and I love them to death! I'm sure you will be seeing plenty of these babies in future posts. The price was reasonable, and they are well made. I also didn't expect them to be as comfortable as they are. Love them!!

Until next time...

I was literally falling over because I was laughing at myself so hard.

Walking the runway!! lol!
