Buffalo Stance...

Hey Peeps!! Happy Friday!! *cue the party streamers and bells* I don't know if y'all know this about me, but I'm a total weekend girl. I take my weekends seriously. What I mean by that is… I don't make plans unless I really feel like it. Meaning, you must be a special person to me if I spend my weekend days/hours around/with you. Y'all might think I'm exaggerating, but I am so serious! All I want to do is be with my hubby and my kids (I partially mean it about the kids, ha). Then there's my "Wine-Oh Sunday" clique. We get together once a month on a Sunday (see here for the back story… and we started at 4, and we're down to 3 ladies now, but that's another story), or a Saturday, or both depending on how much we NEED to kick it and let our hair down.

But one thing that I enjoy the most about weekends is how casual I dress. I wear what I want, and I like to be comfy. I know that some bloggers don't post what they feel are "non-blog worthy" outfits, but here at Spoon Full of Sugar, you get me. YAY!! *more party streamers and bells*

Sometimes I'm all dressed up for date nights, at times I'm all corporate fly for work, then there's lil old weekend me, who would rather be in comfy pants and gym shoes (that's Chicago speak for tennis shoes). Notice the J's.

No need to adjust your glasses, or stare at the screen. I'm really wearing sweat pants that I pulled up over my calves.

I probably could have put on some heels, jewelry and a more dressy top to attempt the "Sports Luxe" trend and make y'all think I ran around like that. Not to say that I wouldn't. But this particular day…  naaaaaahhhhhhh! That just wasn't me. But the jailhouse pose above is soooooooo me :)

Y'all see my Buffalo Stance, right?! I'm kind of a big deal.

**side note: If you don't know the song "Buffalo Stance" by Neneh Cherry, I suggest you Google it**

My daughter caught me mid dance move. Not sure what I was doing, but she dared me to post it, so. Yea.

Until next time…

Life Happens...

Hey peeps!! Let me start by giving a big fat THANK YOU to all of you!! You didn't delete me from your readers because I've been MIA, and for that I'm thankful!! I've been around, reading blogs, looking at pics, reading tweets and "liking" Instagram pics. I just haven't had the time to get back to blogging until now.

I have so much to say/show!! But, I'm gonna try to keep my first post relatively short as I get back into the swing of things. Please hang in there with me if you follow me in IG and have seen some of these pics. This won't be the norm now that I can get out and do OOTD pics again.

First thing's first. Hubby and I purchased our very first (and hopefully last) home! We're homeowners y'all!! I love our home! Packing, moving, and unpacking is a monster, but I wake up smiling, feeling blessed, and thanking God every morning. This pic was taken in April... And yes, that's snow in April! O_o

Secondly, I haven't given up on my health/fitness/wellness journey. I must admit that I have stumbled a bit here and there with my eating habits, but slacking on being active is not an option for me. Exercising at least four days a week as helped me to reach my 2nd weight goal. I'm not comfortable with sharing that number just yet. Not sure if I ever will be, but it damn sure felt good to get there. I now have a new goal, and I'm working everyday to get there.

While two great things were happening in my life, I also lost someone very close to me. My Aunt Berda was called Home to the Lord. Her passing was devastating to my family, as she was/is our backbone. She was one of the most kind, loving, passionate and family oriented people that I know. She had a significant role in raising me to be the woman that I am today. I know she's watching over me and I am comforted knowing that she's no longer in pain and can be forever young. Rest in Peace my Angel.

The next thing that I'm going to mention makes me smile every time I catch my reflection. My hair. When I tell you that I love the way my natural hair is shaping up, I mean it! There were times when it was growing out that I wasn't so sure about it. I'm sure now. From braid-outs, to twist-outs, to afros, to this cute little bun that I recently learned how to do, I LOVE IT!!

And last but not least... (I know I said I would keep it short, but I just couldn't. Ha!) An outfit post. Let me just say, I just love this Marilyn Monroe top.

Thank you guys again for hanging in there, and shout out to those of you who checked up on me to make sure that I was ok. I'm good. BABY I'M BACK! Please stay tuned. Until next time...

Wild hair, don't care

Happy Hump Day!! I hope everyones week is going well. I'm sooooo looking forward to the long MLK weekend. I titled this post "Wild hair, don't care" because my hair is crazy right now. I've been doing a rollerset challenge and I'm finding that as my curls drop and get more wild, I love it. On this day, I swooped it to the side 80's style, pinned it, and kept it moving. Oh how I miss this past Monday when it was an unseasonal 50 degrees outside.

My outfit wasn't anything special, other than the fact that I love my shoes. Normally, I wouldn't have put them together with the striped shirt, but my little attempt to go outside of my own box went well. It's a small step, but just enough for me =D Until next time...

Speechless...

Happy Friday Eve!!

I am wore out from this work week y'all. It's crazy trying to cram five days of work into four. I don't have much to say other than I think I look extra curvy in this top right here!! LOL!! The band across the bottom is nice and curve hugging. Not that I'm trying to be slim or anything, but it creates a nice silhouette.  My favorite part of the top is the bat wings. This is another top that was given to me by my gurl Angelique, who is still keeping her weightloss going and looking great all the way. I've said it before, and I'll say it again... her loss is my gain! I was only able to take a few pics outside, because that wind was all over me like white on rice, on a paper plate, in a snow storm(any "Major Pain" movie fans?... **clears throat**yea, me neither)! Until next time...

I didn't get any pics of my shoes, but they are from Steve Madden. They are the cutest snakeskin, peeptoe, platform pumps. You'll be seeing them soon enough, I promise.

Corporate fly...

I don't have a "Tell it all Tuesday" to post today. I think I will take it from every week, down to once a month. Can't give it all away too soon, right? lol! Nah, it's mainly because I don't have that much to say about myself. It's true!! I need more time.

This post will just be what I wore to work. Since my last outfit was bland with jeans and no color, I thought that I would liven things up a taste. I do love how well grey goes with purple. I got the scarf from my sister-in-law. We were in the store, and I was going to buy it myself. She said, "Is that the one you want?". I said yes, and she said, "I'll buy it for you." Wasn't that sweet!? I told her that I was going to have to go shopping with her more often! HA! It's my favorite part of this outfit. Again, it's cold and windy, so my hair is not cooperating. Bless my daughters heart for braving the winter weather for me. =D Until next time...

Merry Christmas & OOTD

Yes, I'm blogging on Christmas. I hope that you all are having a wonderful time with family and friends while being together and celebrating the birth of Christ. My mother and brother are in town. Although we are missing my sister, we are having a great time.

On to the OOTD...

I have been coveting the below boots for about a year now. I did a post a few months ago about a few pairs of boots that I wanted (see here). This morning, I opened a box that had my Minnetonka Moccasins waiting for me. Hubby was so on point with this gift! I was so excited to have them that I couldn't contain myself. I recently found out that the ever so fashionable Lexy over at BeautyFash has a grey pair. I decided to rock mine on the very first day that I got them because I was so excited. =D

As if it couldn't get any better, another gift featured in these pics, is my brand new Coach bag. Oh how I LOVE it! That man wow'd me this morning. The last and final gift featured in the pics is my pink tam. This hat is so cute to me, and I can't wait to roller set my hair and place this bad boy on top of my curls. It's gonna be too cute!

Happy Holidays!

Heeeyyyyy!! First, let me say that it's been really nice so far in Minnesota this winter!! I'm lovin it! So, it's been a full week since my last post. Man, have I been lazy! Recently, I've seen so many posts in the blog world about what people are wearing to holiday parties and events. I'm living vicariously through other people right now because I don't have a fancy party to attend this year. Due to budget cutbacks, the company I work for hasn't had a fancy party in years. =( Well, my blog stalking reading has prompted me to search my closet and put together a few looks that I thought would be appropriate for a holiday/New Years Eve event. Please excuse the picture heavy post. My daughter and I got picture happy. I'm not a red kind of girl so personally, I like the black and leopard. Which look do you like best??

The first dress is from Torrid. This summer, I bought it on clearance for a whopping $14!! I didn't have anywhere to wear it at the time, but at that price, it was a like a waste if money not to buy it! It fits me like a glove in all the right places. I love the sheer shoulder strap on one side.

The second dress is from Baby Phat. I LOVE this dress. I bought it around two years ago. It makes me feel like such a diva. I like the blazer over it for when I'm not trying to have all of my curves out and about. lol! The shoulders of the dress can be worn all the way up, half off the shoulder, or completely shoulder baring. I prefer the half off of the shoulder look.

P.S. At the request of the lovely Sacramento over at Mis Papelicos (love her blog), the pics today are a bit bigger.

Weekend Girl...

I've kicked back and enjoyed this weekend, because due to the holidays and family coming in town, the next two or three will be hectic to say the least. Did a little shopping...YAY! None for me... BOOOO! Other than that, I chilled at home with hubby and the kids.

I think this outfit is pretty comfy and cute. The boots have just the right heel height to walk around the mall and not have to soak my feet later. I decided to use the scarf more as a layer than as an accessory, so I belted it. It was a pretty nice day out (high 20's in December in Minnesota is considered nice), but the wind was out of control. My curls were all over the place! My baby girl did the best she could with the cold, the wind, and me. Poor thing. =D She's a trooper for Mommy's blog. Until next time...

Lace makes everything better

Because of my recent issues, I decided to play it safe. Black and nude... That's the way to go. I really like this shirt. It's lace and really feminine. It's sleeveless (mad I didn't get pics without the shrug). Of course the shoes are fire. I'm going to stop wearing them for a little while. I promise =D.

I just want to take a moment to thank all of the ladies who gave me advice and added such kind comments on my last post. I was strugglin y'all! lol! Now, on to the pics! Tomorrow, I try my leather pants. Stay tuned! Pray for me! lol! Until next time...
