Why pay more...?

This outfit didn't really come together like I wanted it to, but I like it nonetheless. I should have added color somewhere. I'm always thinking about color now, but I'm so drawn to black and neutral tones. Oh well... The sweater I got on clearance from Old Navy, and the shoes I copped on sale at PAYLESS. Yea, I said it! Payless. I'm late on the whole nude heel thing, but I still wanted a pair. I saw these babies on sale in Payless for $25 bucks and I said, "Sign me up!". I was even able to get another 10% off because of a scuff that's on the shoe. Hey, it doesn't hurt to ask, right? It was the last pair in my size, and all she could do was say no. But... she said yes.

Another thing that I like about my outfit is the necklace. It was a Christmas gift from Hubby two years ago. At the time, I didn't  see it for the nice piece that it is. My taste has since evolved a bit, and I now know better. It's my favorite part of the outfit. Thanks Hunny!! You were ahead of me on this one. Until next time...

Weekend Girl...

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I know I did. It was my first year cooking dinner. I co-hosted with my sis-inlaw, and I must say that we ROCKED IT!! Everyone enjoyed themselves and the food was fantastic. I was so busy that I didn't know what to do with myself. I think I lost my mind that day. I'm used to just showing up with a pie and getting my grub on. Well, those days are officially over. Went out with hubby for Black Friday at midnight and the only thing I have to say about that is, I'm done with Kohl's for a little while. Oh, and I scored a white pair of pants from Old Navy for $4.47!! I will be wearing those bad boys soon, so be on the lookout for that post. =D

Ok, so I know that not every outfit qualifies as an OOTD post. But with this one, I was proud of myself. I am normally a t-shirt, jeans/sweatpants kind of chick most Saturdays and Sundays... unless I'm really going out or something. But since starting SFS, (HA! I just nicknamed my blog!) I have been trying to find ways to be comfy and cute on the weekends, and I think this outfit accomplished that for me. I felt so comfortable going to the mall today. I started to wear all black, but then decided to throw the striped tunic in there for a teeny bit of something extra. Flats aren't my thing, but I was going for comfort, right? The snow has melted for now, so it was perfect for the weather. Sorry for the blurry pics. The wind was out of control. Until next time...

Pic of me and my baby girl shopping. I bought the purple scarf from Old Navy while we were at the Mall of America. I think it was what my outfit was missing...

Who Loves a Deal??...

This girl!! Friday, I saw on Twitter that Old Navy was having a 75% off all adult outerwear sale. I also had my "Super Cash" coupon. I knew I couldn't miss this sale! So Saturday, while running errands with Hubby(as the snow/sleet was coming down), I begged asked him to drive me there. I hate driving in bad weather. Ugh! We got there, and BOOM!! I saw the type of coat that I wanted. I'm a sucker for a cute peacoat. There were a few to choose from,  but I settled on this bad boy and ended up paying a whopping $11.53!! I want to pick up a hat/scarf/mitten combo with a bright color... maybe purple. Something that stands out, since the coat is so low key. I'll be on the hunt for that now.

I also picked up a pair of cute boots(not shown here...see previous post). Total spent, $29.99. I didn't buy nearly as much as I could have/wanted to. I showed an extreme amount of restraint. YAY me!! Until next time...

Notice anything different?...

Yea. There's snow on the ground in the wonderful state if Minnesota. I don't mind the snow, but I'm usually over it by the end of January. That doesn't work well because the snow doesn't go away until around April or May even. I've been here for over 16 years, so I might as well get over it. *sigh* On the other hand, it sure is pretty! On to the OOTD.

I love the sweater that I'm wearing because of the cowl neck and the fit. The boots I picked up yesterday at Old Navy. I love them because they actually fit my calves!! That's hard for me. I wasn't even going to try on the boots because I've been disappointed many time before... even with some boots that claim to have wide shafts. These boots didn't have that claim, but for some reason I tried them. LUCKY STRIKE!! They fit!! That makes them my favorite part of this outfit. Until next time...

Houndstooth tights... not for me

After having a Twitter chat with @deepQueenDiva, I realized that I didn't have enough tights in my wardrobe to try and look fabulous throughout the wonderfully cold Minnesota Winter months. lol! I ran out to Target and bought a few pairs of tights. This Houndstooth print was so cute on the rack. I still think they are cute, but they just may not be for me. The straight lines curve on my legs because of "what my momma gave me". lol! I'm not really feeling that, but I wore them anyway. I was only able to get a few pics this morning while my daughter was on her way to school (because of the lack of light at 5pm), but from them, I think the point is evident. No more straight line pattern tights for me. Maybe I will stick to colors only.

P.S., please excuse the bra strap. We were in a hurry. No way Tiana was missing her bus because of Momma's blog pics. LOL!!

Until next time...

1st Feature!!!

Hello out there! Is this thing on? I'm am so grateful and excited this morning. I woke up to see my face, yours truly on the blog of the very stylish Alissa over at Stylish Curves!! I was chosen to be featured as the Stylish Curves of the Day! How exciting! Seeing all of the wonderful women that she has previously chosen to be featured, lets me know that I'm in good company. I started this blog over a year ago and let it fall off the map because it lacked focus and direction. I started back up after being motivated by women of the blog world like Alissa, who showcased their personal style and didn't apologize for it. Thanks again Alissa! Until next time...

Here's an excerpt from the feature:

                                                    STYLISH CURVES OF THE DAY

Hey curvy girls all over world,Today's Stylish curvy girl is Ticka and here's what Ticka had to say about how she embraces her curves:
I embrace my curves by being me and being comfortable in my skin. I don't try to hide myself in oversized clothes and become invisible. I describe my style as comfortable & classy.

Weekend Girl...

Heeeyyyyy!! Who doesn't love a Saturday?! Just went around today and ran some errands. I harassed my daughter to take a few snapshots before we went in for the evening. Didn't get to a few of my local thrift stores like I wanted to, but I will be doing that SOON. I love reading about and seeing all of the thrifted finds that fellow bloggers come across.  I'm hoping to have the same kind of luck. Style for less! That's my kind of shopping! Anyhoo, on to the OOTD.

Keeping with my theme of not wanting to wear black, I put on my army green button-down top, and a pair of jeans.  I've had the brown wedges for a grip. I don't remember where they're from, but they sure are comfy. HAPPY SATURDAY! Until next time...

UPDATE!! I entered this look to participate in the Bloggers Do It Better Challenge over at Pretty Shiny Sparkly... Click the link to head on over to check out how other personal style bloggers do "Military Chic".

Gimme da light...

The only thing I knew for sure about today's outfit, was that I didn't want to wear ANY black or tan, and as little brown as possible. I have really been overly rocking those colors lately and it felt kind of boring (with the exception of my blue skirt earlier this week). So, I broke out my blue Old Navy skinnies! The red top that I'm wearing under my jean jacket is actually a halter dress. It's just tucked into my jeans =D.  I rarely ever tuck shirts into jeans, and I haven't worn a regular belt around my waist in forever, so this was different for me. They are usually big belts worn high to cinch in dresses or shirts. HAPPY FRIDAY!! Yay me for taking pics in the daylight! Until next time...

Style Challenge... Day 3

If it seems like I'm complaining a lot about this light issue, that's because I am! lol!! All I can say is, I'm scouting a better place inside to take pics now. There was only one pic that I think came out well. Enough of my complaining (for now) and on to the challenge...

I wore a shirt/dress over a black pencil skirt. I have a different color of the same dress seen here. In the summer I wear them alone as dresses. So, the look is nothing new. I've never tried it with a skirt though. I like it. I also wanted to throw on a pair of shoes that didn't have a platform on them.

Holy tan line Batman!!

This challenge has enlightened me to the fact that I need more fun pieces in my wardrobe. I don't think I will be wearing a skirt tomorrow, because of "Casual Friday". I covered four days (wore a skirt on Monday that didn't count) this week and I think I did pretty damn good. =D Next weeks challenge is dresses. That might be a little tough because I'm in Minnesota, and it's getting COLD, but I think lots of tights and leggings will be in order.  Until next time...

Style Challenge... Day 2

Ok, so I am beyond frustrated with the lack of light when I get home. More now that I'm blogging than ever before. Ugh! Is it bad that I want to leave work early so I can come home and take pics? lol! I wasn't going to post the pics of this outfit because they are so crappy, but since Momma didn't raise no punk, I decided to do it anyways. Today, I decided to put brown together with black again. I'm really starting to like that color combo. I added my cheetah belt for a touch of print. I must say, even though the pics didn't turn out good, I felt fab when I left the house this morning, and got lots of compliments at work about how "sassy" I looked. =D Until next time...
